ABOUT THE SCORE: In order to capture the suspension between time and reality in this apocalyptic moment, I decided to collide modern synthetic textures with classical orchestral lines. As we navigate through a zoomed in perspective around the falling man, we pan out to see the destructive beast wreaking havoc on this world. To mirror that, I decided to use an up close, intimate spread of instruments that zoom out into a broader gritty sound while building tension throughout the piece with a creeping synthetic pulse and haunting atmospheric notes.

ABOUT THE SFX: It’s not often composers get the opportunity to also do sound design—so I thought I’d give it a first go creating my own foley and SFX with ordinary things. Including my toddler’s sound machine, toy, kids ukulele, baby gate, headphone cords, outside sounds, bags, paper, pennies, screws, gloves, sinks, various sounds from a local trophy truck race, etc. I also gave my husband and I some lines for fun.
